Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour under Majid Al Futtaim’s distinct name and “M” logo, underscoring our dedication to our local identity in 12 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. These include, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Georgia, Iraq, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Uganda.

Majid Al Futtaim is the full owner of its grocery retailing business and it’s not part of the Carrefour Group of entities.

1.       Is Majid Al Futtaim’s Carrefour brand and trademark different than the one in France?

No, Majid Al Futtaim operates Carrefour in 13 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Majid Al Futtaim does not operate in Israel, nor does it have business interests or affiliations in Israel.

Majid Al Futtaim is fully committed to serving the local communities in which it operates. Majid Al Futtaim’s grocery retail businesses is proud to source over 80%  of its products from local and regional suppliers and producers.

3.       Are the royalty fees paid to Carrefour France being used to support Israel?

No, Carrefour Group does not take any political stances across the globe, nor in any market in which it operates through its network of partners and franchisees.

Political actions by other franchisees, are not associated or representative of both Majid Al Futtaim and Carrefour Group.

As an Emirati business with firm roots in the Arab world and a responsibility to the communities in which we operate, Majid Al Futtaim’s profits are reinvested back into our communities, supporting local initiatives, job creation, and overall community development.

4.       Does Majid Al Futtaim own shares in Carrefour France?

No, Majid Al Futtaim does not own shares in Carrefour Group.

5.       Where do Carrefour’s operated by Majid Al Futtaim profits go?

As an Emirati owned business, Majid Al Futtaim takes immense pride in developing robust local and regional supply chains and fostering collaboration with regional suppliers, producers, farmers, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This collaboration enables Majid Al Futtaim’s grocery retailing business to offer high quality products at affordable prices to its customers, sourcing 80%  of its products from local suppliers and producers.

Our aim is to make a meaningful and lasting impact, aligning our success with the prosperity and growth of the markets we serve.

6.       What are you doing to support the people of Gaza?

Majid Al Futtaim has donated over US$ 2 million to support Gaza aid relief efforts. Majid Al Futtaim will continue to work with regional charity organisations to ensure colleagues and customers have every opportunity to take positive action to support aid efforts in Gaza.

Customers are able to donate through Majid Al Futtaim Carrefour stores cash counters, website and mobile app, or contribute with in-kind donations using Red Crescent’s donation points at Carrefour stores, or across the Majid Al Futtaim’s ‘City Centre’ and ‘Mall of’ shopping malls and THAT concept store. Customers can also donate SHARE points through the SHARE app. 

At Majid Al Futtaim, we remain dedicated to our communities and stand in solidarity with the civilian Palestinians in Gaza.
